Did you know that Jello is made of ground up ligament and cartilage from cows and pigs?!? Gross!
Regardless, when you make Jello - you boil water, add the mix, then put the liquid into a bowl or mold. You then place the Jello in the refrigerator for 15 minutes - and PRESTO - JELLO!
What happens is the warm water liquifies the ligaments and cartilage and then the cooler temp - helps to solidify the fibers again.
Using this idea, we have learned about Spinal Molding.
We have been having our patients do 25 spinal twists before laying with swim noodle (for the pool) underneath their necks or lower backs for 15 minutes just before going to bed! This allows their spine to "mold" back into the proper position.
All day, every day we do things that put our cervical curve to the test....sitting at a computer, laying on the couch, blow drying our hair....
Most of my new patients have some loss of curve in their necks and some actually have complete reversal of the cervical curve! Loos of curve narrows the spinal canal and also puts undue stress on the spinal cord and nerves. All nerves run down through the neck...to get to the intestines, the big toe, the low back; therefore having the normal curve in the neck is very important to have a properly functioning spine and nervouse system!
I am really excited to track the progress of their spines with this new technique
